Chelsea Rushton earned a BFA in Creative Writing from the University of Victoria and is currently completing an MFA in Visual Art at the University of Calgary. For her, creative practice is a form of self-inquiry and meditative discipline; her work calls attention to the information meditation reveals, and to the body's role in the translation of vision to image. Motherland, a 5.5' square embroidered tapestry in progress, integrates fine art and craft to create a sacred space in which artist, participants, and viewers come together toward a deeper understanding of our relationships to ourselves, each other, and the earth.
